TEXAS TOAD Anaxyrus (Bufo) speciosus Girard, 1854

STATUS:  Abundant

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas, Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Tarrant, and Wise.

HABITAT:  Mesquite Grand Prairie, Fort Worth Prairie, Brazos River Bottoms, Western Cross Timbers, and cleared areas of the Trinity River Bottoms

COMMENTS: Texas toads are most commonly encountered in May, June, and July on warm humid nights and after summer rains.
